About Subbed
Joseph Hook has a background in data analysis and local and national journalism, and while managing the RADAR local news service, part of PA Media, the UK and Ireland’s national newswire, led a small editorial team in the production of thousands of AI-driven stories every week.
He has developed automated news, sports and finance products, led the expansion of the service into international markets, and written hundreds of front-page stories, national articles and long-form pieces.
With a focus on the use of AI and automation in the media, he has featured in interviews with mainstream and specialist press, given talks for university media courses and featured on podcasts exploring the future of journalism.
Now based in Valencia, Spain, he started Subbed to help form the future of journalism: building efficiency into the publication process so both machines and journalists can play to their strengths.
